KARACHI, Oct 4: Sindh Governor Mohammadmian Soomro has stressed the need for streamlining and coordinating the social security system in the province.

He was presiding over a meeting held at the Governor’s House here on Friday which reviewed the performance of the Sindh Employees Social Security Institution.

Mr. Soomro also called for taking advantage of the health insurance scheme.

He appreciated the performance of the SESSI in the recent months and directed that it be improved further.

The meeting was informed that for the provision of medical facilities for industrial and trade workers and their families, an amount of Rs1.5 million was being spent. Other facilities are also being made available to them.

Secretary of labour Raja Mohammad Abbas said the dues of 2,000 employees of defunct Sindh Road Transport Corporation who were given golden handshake have been cleared.

The meeting was informed that for fostering industrial investment, investment-friendly policies were being framed on the directive of the governor and provision of infrastructure was being ensured.

It was stated that the outstanding issue of provision of gas at Nooriabad and Nawabshah had been resolved.

The governor stressed the need of continuity of steps and for taking them ahead in an effective manner.

He said the investment-friendly policy should foster trade and industrial activities as well as create employment opportunities.—APP
