KARACHI, Sept 30: The members of the Executive Board of Idara Amn-o-Insaf have demanded compensation to the families of the victims of the shooting attack in its office on Sept 25.
In a statement on Monday, the Idara chief, Sarah Ivan, termed the attack a systematic move on the part of terrorist groups to harass and victimize the community by attacking Christian institutions all over the country.
She said the recent attack was a part of the chain of Bahawalpur, Islamabad, Murree and Taxila incidents after the killing of Ivan Edwin, the former chairperson of the Idara, in May.
She said some political elements were trying to manipulate the situation to misguide the Christian community for their political gains in the forthcoming elections.
The Idara also demanded that Robin Piran Ditta, the eyewitness to the incident, not be made “a scapegoat,” as it would allow the real culprits to remain at large.
It urged the government to actively work on the policy that discouraged religious extremism, pro-actively seek out and identify terrorists and tackle the menace of terrorism at its roots.
