Man shot dead

KARACHI, Sept 27: A man was shot dead in Chakiwara by unidentified men late on Friday night.

Police say Arif, owner of a shop in Jhat Pat Market, after closing his shop was going home along with his brother Sohail on a motorcycle when they were intercepted by two or three armed men near Eidgah Lane.

Arif, who was on the driving seat, did not stop, and as he tried to speed the motorbike up, the culprits opened fire. A bullet hit Arif’s head, and he was rushed to a hospital where he died, the police state.

Town Police Officer Sualeh Mohammad said: “It appeared to be an act of robbery as Arif was not a political activist.”
