KARACHI, Sept 27: An appellate bench of the Sindh High (SHC) for accountability courts, comprising Justice Wahid Bux Brohi and Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery, on Friday dismissed appeals filed by three appellants against their disqualification for 10 years.

Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, Syed Ali Qutub Shah and Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah, who were declared disqualified from holding any public office on charge of being defaulters of a public utility organization by an Accountability court, challenged their disqualification.

The bench, after hearing M.Ilyas Khan, counsel for the appellants, rejected the appeals. The appellants are allegedly defaulters of WAPDA. Another division bench of the SHC, comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbaniand Justice Musheer Alam, dismissed a constitutional petition filed by Dr Mudhat Jamil Siddiqui, medical officer of the PNSC, against alleged harassment.

The petitioner had alleged that the SHO TPX was harassing her as police personnel from the said station were visiting her house. The bench inquired from AAG Sarwar Khan present in court in some other matter. DAG Nadeem Azhar was also called upon. Both the law officers assured that the petitioner would not be harassed. The bench then dismissed the petition as not pressed, while taking the statements of the DAG and the AAG on record.

DETENTION CASE: A division bench of the Sindh High Court, comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Musheer Alam, on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a constitutional petition against alleged illegal detention of Muhammed Haris Hasan.
