KARACHI: Bishop alleges illegal election

KARACHI, Sept 21: Sadiq Daniel, the Bishop of Karachi and Balochistan, has said he was duly elected for the post in an election held on Feb 14 this year.

He was speaking at a news conference at Karachi Press Club on Saturday. Two former minorities’ members of the Sindh Assembly, Michael Javed and Salim Khurshid Khokhar, were also present at the news conference.

Bishop Sadiq said he was elected for the post after it fell vacant when Bishop Irny Radon retired.

He alleged that in an “illegal election,” Ejaz Inayat was shown elected as Bishop of Karachi.

Bishop Sadiq further alleged that Ejaz Inayat was entering into a deal involving St Andrew’s Church situated on Abdullah Haroon Road and declared that the Church property would not be allowed to be used for any commercial venture.— APP
