KARACHI: Man acquitted of murder

KARACHI, Sept 18: The district and sessions judge, Malir, Imam Bux Soomro, acquitted on Wednesday a man of the charge of murder.

Basant Lal was tried for killing Juma alias Jimmy on April 15 in the limits of the Malir City police.

According to the prosecution, the accused had fatally wounded the victim by hitting him with an iron rod.

The judge, however, exonerated him from the charge giving him the benefit of the doubt.

CONVICTED: The additional district and sessions judge, Central, Ghulam Qadir Leghari, sentenced a bandit to suffer rigorous for three years.

Nazeer Ahmed alias Nazeer Hussain was prosecuted for looting Jan Mohammed on July 18, 1996 in Gulberg.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs5,000 on the convict, who would have to undergo an additional one-month term in case of default on the payment.
