Enrollment campaign extended till 30th

RAWALPINDI, Sept 17: The district government’s campaign of enrolling children, in the age group of five to seven years, in schools has been extended for another 15 days.

Earlier, the last date of the enrolment campaign was September 15, but after failing to achieve its target, the district government extended the campaign till the 30th of this month.

The campaign had been started as part of a Unicef-sponsored literacy drive launched here at the beginning of this month.

At a meeting held to review the progress of the campaign, District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani expressed his concern over the failure of the relevant authorities in achieving the enrolment target. He said: “We are far behind our targets of 100 per cent enrolment of all five to seven years children.”

He was also briefed about the household survey, data collection and analysis.

Mr Kiani asked the education department officials at the meeting to ensure the achievement of the target by September 30. He said: “I want everyone to be in the field and the work should be completed on priority basis.”—Staff Reporter
