KARACHI: Two PPP candidates granted bail

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 16: Two election candidates of the Pakistan People’s Party obtained on Monday anticipatory bail in a murder case.

An additional district and sessions judge, West, Mrs Akhtar A. Chaudhry, granted bail before arrest to Mohammed Bakhsh Lashari and Shabbir Qureshi, who were booked by the Pak Colony police in the murder case.

A worker of the PPP (SB) was killed and two others were injured in a clash between workers of the rival party candidates over hoisting of parties’ flags.

ACQUITTED: A district and sessions judge, Ms Qaiser Iqbal, acquitted a man in a case pertaining to the possession of an unlicensed pistol and explosives.

Ali Ahmed alias Ali Irani, booked by police under sections 13-D of the Arms Ordinance and sections 3/5 of the Explosives Act, was acquitted of the charges as the prosecution could not prove its case against him.

He was arrested by the Anti-terrorism Wing of police earlier this year.

JAILED: An additional district and sessions judge, South, Aziz Jamali, sentenced a man to five years’ rigorous imprisonment for injuring his wife.

Ramzan had stabbed his wife in New Karachi in the year 2000.
