Published September 13, 2002

HUB, Sept 12: Rejection of nomination papers of ex-PPP federal minister Ghulam Akbar Lasi and PML-QA candidate Aslam Bhotani has changed the political scenario of district Lasbela and Awaran.

Now the past rivals and central leaders of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal), Balochistan National Movement and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have started negotiations to counter the candidates of PML-QA in the elections.

They have contacted each other to strike a deal for NA-270 Lasbela/ Awaran, PB-44 (Lasbela-I) and PB-45 (Lasbela-II) to counter provincial PML-QA President Jam Yousuf, Pir Abdul Qadir Algelani and others in the forthcoming general elections.

BNP-M chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal, its central body member Rajab Rind and some PPP leaders are reported to have involved in talks for an election alliance in Lasbela against PML-Q.

People say that if the PPP, BNP-M and BNM join hands against PML-QA candidates, a tough contest will be witnessed for NA-270.
