ISLAMABAD, Sept 10: Karachi’s Rangers Cricket Club made a winning start to their tour of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, scoring victories over Diamond and KRL teams.

They proved rude guests as they thrashed KRL by nine wickets Tuesday, Imran Ali striking an undefeated 91 and Jawad contributing 43.

KRL put on 165 in 31.1 overs batting first, Arif Butt topscoring with 44. Wasimuddin and Shiraz shared six wickets while Athar picked up two.

The visitors overhauled that total for the loss of just one wicket for what was a well-deserved victory.

Earlier, Diamond were at the receiving end, falling to a six- wicket defeat. There was no worthwhile contribution from any batsman as their side managed only 199 for nine in 35 overs. Imran Ali was the top wicket-taker with four for 33 and Athar chipping in with two.

Imran Ali spearheaded Rangers’ reply scoring a fine unbeaten 88 as the touring team collected 202 for four in 33.2 overs. Sohail Khan claimed two wickets.
