KARACHI, Sept 6: Six ships carrying raw jute, containers and general cargo are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity at the wharves was relatively slow owing to delay in arrivals of foreign flag vessels. As a result, three ships, Mar Challenger, Kota Terajv to unload and load containers and Eminka to load ethanol were berthed after the departure of seven.
The departing ships were led by MSC Deila, Chitral, Kota Berani, Kota Teraju, Cleveland, Hyderabad and Johar, while Swat, Eminka, Oriental Bright, Chemstar King, Mar Challenger, and Jiao Cheng are due to sail out on Saturday.
Berthing occupancy at the dry wharves fell to a lowest level of 15 per cent owing to delayed arrivals, while it rose to 67 per cent at the oil piers.
Cargo handling activity fell to 36,715 tons comprising 11,071 tons of export cargo and 25,644 tons of import tonnage.
The following ships are due on Saturday: Melis, to load molasses, Islamabad, Lecong with general cargo, Banglar Mamata, with jute, Hyundai Bridge, Sima Kija, with containers.
