HYDERABAD, Sept 5: The general-secretary, All Pakistan Trade Unions Organization, Sindh, Mehboob Ali Qureshi, has deplored the closure of the Shahdadkot Textile Mills, Larkana.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Qureshi said due to the closure of the mill, 800 workers had been rendered jobless and thousands of other people, including workers’ families, had been affected.

He said the government had also suffered losses to the tune of millions of rupees per annum in the shape of various taxes.

He termed the closure of the mill a conspiracy of influential people and bureaucracy.

Qureshi appealed to the president and federal ministers for industry and finance to provide funds to restart the mill and pay dues to workers.
