KARACHI: Govt aims at hung parliament: Khuhro

KARACHI, Sept 5: President Sindh PPP, Nisar Ahmad Khuhro, has said that the laws and constitutional amendments introduced by the government have caused serious apprehensions regarding the transparency of the general elections to be held in October.

Mr Khuhro was speaking at a get-together to introduce his party’s candidates Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Kamran Khan and Najmi Alam.

He said the reforms effected by the government were aimed at creating a leadership crisis and establishing a hung parliament. Of the recent goodwill gestures displayed by the heads of the two major political parties of the country towards each other, he said that in past their differences were based on ideology and they did not harbour any personal animosity.

He said that unfortunately a perception had developed among the people of the country that the courts would never give any verdict against those in power. He said it did not augur well for the justice system of the country.

Taj Haider, central information secretary of the party, said that national investors had a pivotal role in transforming a society into a welfare state through a democratic process. —PPI
