KARACHI, August 30: Chief secretary Sindh, K.B.Rind, has directed the administrative secretaries of the provincial government departments to point out without any further delay the laws which need to be amended for streamlining the system introduced by the National Reconstruction Bureau.
Presiding over a high-level meeting on Friday, Mr Rind emphasized that in view of certain legal complications, it was essential to remove lacunas so that the issues confronting the people could be resolved.
The chief secretary suggested the participants to hold weekly meetings and review the devolution process so that legal implications with regard to the departments devolved to the district governments could be pointed out.
The meeting also reviewed the devolution of the Malir, Lyari, Hyderabad a nd Larkana development authorities to the respective district governments.
The law secretary informed that after the approval of the government, the devolution of the KBCA and the KWSB would be finalized.
On a suggestion by the DCO Karachi, the chief secretary stressed on evolving a strategy for issuance of domicile certificates. He directed that the committee headed by the law secretary should meet every fortnight and review the laws which need to be amended.—PPI
