KARACHI, Aug 29: Four persons were died in separate road accidents in Karachi on Thursday.

An unidentified middle-aged man died in a road accident in Malir City on Thursday morning when he was hit by a speeding vehicle. The victim died on the spot, while the vehicle escaped from the spot.

A motorcyclist Siraj, 30, lost his life when he was hit by a vehicle on M. A. Jinnah Road.

He was rushed to the Civil Hospital and admitted for treatment in a serious condition. On Thursday morning, the victim died during treatment, hospital sources said.

In Nazimabad, a pedestrian Zahid, 50, was knocked down by a speeding truck near Board Office traffic intersection on late Wednesday night. The victim died on the spot, his body was shifted to the Abbasi Hospital. Police have arrested the driver, Abdul Sattar, and impounded the truck.

In Clifton, Mohammad Irtaza, 50, lost his life when he was hit by a passenger coach while he was crossing the road near the Shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi.

ROBBERIES: A mobile phone shop was robbed of 37 phone sets by two armed men in Mominabad on Thursday.

Police said Mohibul Haq lodged an FIR with the police that two armed men barged into his cellular phone shop and escaped after collecting 37 hand sets at gun-point.

In Korangi Industrial Area, Mohammad Sarfaraz lodged an FIR with police that he was deprived of cash and mobile phone by an unknown person.

In Ferozabad, complainant Atif, lodged a complaint with the police that five unknown armed men took away cash and a mobile phone set from his shop at gun-point.

Ghulam Rasool lodged an FIR with the Sharea Faisal police that two armed men deprived him of local and foreign currency.

CARJACKINGS: At least 14 vehicles — one car and 12 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in different parts of the city on Thursday, police said.

One car was stolen while four motorcycles were hijacked by bandits. Eight motorcycles were stolen in different parts of the city on Thursday, police said.

Police claimed to have recovered seven cars and four motorcycles.
