PESHAWAR, Aug 29: The NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has directed the executing agencies to expedite work on ongoing development schemes in the Peshawar district and ensure early completion of the projects.
Presiding over a meeting held here to review the progress of work on the uplift schemes here on Thursday, he said: “We have sufficient resources at our disposal to implement all the mega projects.
However, it is time to implement and maintain quality according to the laid down specification,” the governor said.
He said long-term planning should be made for the construction of flyovers at Rehman Baba Square and at the Jail Crossing and the area required for this purpose should be earmarked without any delay keeping in view the future requirements.
Expressing satisfaction over the progress on the removal of encroachments on Jamrud Road, Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah directed that the process should also be initiated from the other end of the road and that no delay should be made in the removal of uncalled for structures falling between the board junction and Karkhano Market.
The meeting was informed that the preliminary survey for construction of road along the Warsak Canal had been completed where the right of way would be restored by removing encroachments. The governor directed the authorities concerned to remove the encroachments falling along the canal road passing through the northern parts of the city and which after crossing Dalazak road and Charsadda touches the Warsak Road.
