KARACHI: Transporters dismantle girders

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 29: Iron girders erected at vantage points to stop the entry of heavy vehicles in to the residential areas of Lyari Town have been dismantled by transporters.

These barriers were erected by the Lyari Town administration when it banned the entry of goods carriers in to residential areas some time ago.

The Baghdadi Union Council also joined the campaign and erected barriers at important points including Moosa Lane and the adjoining areas of Lea Market.

A survey showed that transporters had removed the iron barriers in Lea Market and Haat Chowk, disregarding the orders of the town administration.

These transporters were asked to shift their businesses from the residential areas of the town, but they refused to do so. Consequently, the municipal administration erected iron girders at important routes to stop the entry of heavy vehicles.

But the transporters ignored the call and continued their business as usual by removing all the barriers.
