Pakistan squad for Asiad

LAHORE, Aug 26: Pakistan Monday announced the 18-member football squad for the 14th Asian Games to be organized in Busan, South Korea, from Oct 30.

Defender Haroon Yousuf will captain the national side. Jozef Herel will be the coach, while Siddique Sheikh manager.

The Games commence from Oct 30, but the football competition will start from Sept 27 and ends on Oct 14.

Twenty-four teams will participate in the Games football contest.

Pakistan, placed in group “F”, face Kuwait in the first match on Sept 28, Tajikistan on Oct 1, and Hong Kong on Oct 5.

The squad will train in Islamabad till the departure for South Korea on Sept 24.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Jaffar Khan, Asadullah Tariq, Mohammad Shahzad

Defenders: Haroon Yousuf (captain), Amir Shahzad, Ashfaq Ahmad, Tanveer Ahmad, Naseer Ahmad.

Midfielders: Adeel Ahmad, Mahmood, Atiqur Rahman, Mohammad Asif Ayub, Nomi Martin Gill, Arif Mahmood.

Forwards: Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Gohar Zaman, Mohammad Essa, Zaheer Abbas.
