ISLAMABAD, Aug 26: The chief commissioner and chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Mir Laiq Shah, will preside over a meeting being held on Tuesday to chalk out a strategy to restart development work in sector D-12.

A source said the senior officials of Islamabad Capital Territory administration, CDA, and police would attend the meeting. It is learnt that the representatives of Siri Saral and Pind Sangrial villagers have also been asked to attend it.

“We have not decided so far to take part in the meeting, as we have already asked the CDA that we will neither enter into a dialogue nor allow the authority to restart the work unless an FIR regarding killing of two villagers is registered,” a member of villagers committee, Muhammad Ashraf, told Dawn.

He said the villagers had already filed a petition before Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi Bench, for the registration of the FIR with the relevant police station. He said the hearing in the case would be starting on Tuesday (today). “After the court decision, we will decide whether we are to take part in the meeting or not,” he said.

On the other hand, a senior police official said the police could not register two FIRs in a murder case. He was of the view that the CDA should give due compensation to the villagers of Siri Saral so that such incidents could be avoided in future.

A source said about 2,847 compensation claims were submitted with the CDA, of which 895 were fake.

The source said the compensation in the shape of cash and land amounting to Rs400 million had been given against the fake claims. However, over 150 landholders have not been given even a single penny.
