Shaukat’s hat trick for COMLOG

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 23: Aided by Shaukat Hussain’s hat trick COMLOG (W) routed COMLOG (G) 10-0 in the Pakistan Navy football championship at NPT&SC ground Friday.

Starting their goal spree, COMLOG (W) hammered in four goals before the break.

Star of the COMLOG (W) Shaukat nodded home his first in the 20th minute, while Saleh Mohammad and Shamim Akhtar added one apiece in the 24th and 39th minutes.

Three minutes before half time whistle, Shaukat sprang into action to get his second and team’s fourth.

But the real punishment for hapless COMLOG (G) began when both sides came after the lemons as the second period saw six goals coming from COMLOG (W).

It was again Shaukat who commenced the second half scoring with a 55th-minute goal that also completed his treble.

Three quickfire goals within space of seven minutes further stretched the margin 8-0. Omar Farooq pumped in the sixth in the 60th minute, Ansar Jawaid and Akhtar Hussain were on target in the 63rd and 67th minutes.

Nawab Ali struck in the 85th minute, while A. Latif scored barely 60 seconds later.

In another one-sided affair, COMKAR (R) breezed past COMKAR (G) 6-1.

A. Ahmad (20th, 35th minutes), A. Saeed (40th, 70th minutes), and R. Bukhsh (45th, 62nd minutes) shared six goals.

Consolation goal for COMKAR (G) came through M. Irfan who converted a 38th-minute penalty.
