KARACHI, Aug 20: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed 1.5km portion of Nishtar Road from Lasbella to Tin Hatti, which has been completed in ten months at a cost of Rs0.494 million.
The road had been in a dilapidated condition for the last nine years and was damaged at various portions due to movement of water tankers from a hydrant located on the road.
In the past, foundation stone for start of work had been laid several times, but it could not be taken in hand due to various reasons.
It was a longstanding demand of the area people that construction of the road be initiated at the earliest.
The City Nazim had laid the foundation for start of work on the road about ten months back with the announcement that it would be completed on time. His promise was kept and the road was inaugurated on August 19.
Present along with the Nazim on the occasion were DCO Shafiqur rehman Paracha, Town Nazim Ahmed Parekh, Naib Nazim Ashfaq Mujahid and other representatives.
Naimatullah Khan declared that no hydrant would be allowed on the road in future.
He said work on widening of Dalmia-Karsaz road would begin soon.—APP
