ISLAMABAD, Aug 13: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has conferred civil awards on 23 French nationals “in recognition of the supreme sacrifice” made by the 11 French nationals and serious injuries sustained by 12 others during a terrorist attack in Karachi, on May 8, 2002.

They were working on a joint Pakistan-French AGOSTA 90-B submarine project.

The award-giving ceremony will be held at the Pakistan mission in Paris on a date to be announced later, says an official announcement.

The recipients of Sitara-i-Pakistan (posthumous) are:

Thierry Donnart, Jean Tves Leclerc, Cedric Bled, Pascal Broux, Daniel le Carpenter, Jean Pierre Delavie, Jean Michel Chevassut, Pascal Leconte, Claude Drouet, Bernard Dupont, and Jacques Laurent.

The recipients of Tamgha-i-Pakistan are: Gilbert Eustache, Michel Bongert, Laurent Leveziel, Gilles Sanson, Frederic Labat, Jerome Austache, Christophe Polidor, Claude Estasse, Jean Mare le Gall, Jean Paul Zante, Loig Madec and Jean Raymond Laupenie.—APP
