KARACHI, Aug 10: A large number of handicapped children enjoyed an animated cartoon film, Shrek, at a special show organized by noted artist and social worker Jimmy Engineer and the Sada Welfare Foundation on Saturday morning.

Nishat Cinema echoed with loud whistles, applause, clapping, and laughter of the children as they enjoyed the fights, acrobatics and jokes by the cartoon characters during the nearly 90-minute Hollywood blockbuster that has been a great success with kids around the globe.

The children who saw the film belonged to the Ida Rieu School and the College for the Deaf and Blind, Ma Ayesha Institute, Mother Terresa’s Home, Darul Khushnood, Darul Sukoon, Al-Shifa Trust, Prewa School, the Paradise Girls School, the Paradise Boys School and the Bahriya College Karsaz.

Jimmy Engineer, speaking on the occasion, said that the handicapped people in general and children in particular, were given many facilities in the West, but here the society was not giving them their due rights.

He said that if everybody did something to help special children their life would become much easier. He said that he had been organizing fun activities for these children at various elite city hotels and restaurants and noticed that children enjoyed the music part of the programmes more, so he thought of organizing film shows for them.

Huzurul Hasan Nawab of the Mandviwalla Entertainments on the occasion said that two cinemas Lahore had also come forward and volunteered to organize shows for children there. These shows would be held soon.
