ISLAMABAD, Aug 9: The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-i-Azam (PML-Q) is fully prepared to contest forthcoming general elections on October 10, and will end the politics of confrontation in the country.

The newly-elected president of the party, Mian Muhammad Azhar, said while talking to newsmen at his residence on Friday.

The additional secretary-general of PML-Q, Col Gulam Sarwar Cheema (retired), and other members of the party were also present on the occasion.

Commenting on the fate of Ijazul Haq, after he levelled allegations against the party’s election process, the PML-Q president said the Central Working Committee would decide about the future of the dissident leader.

Mian Azhar said, “Ijaz is still a honourable member of the PML-Q because he has not submitted his resignation to the party secretariat so far”.

“We have buried the politics of legacy and traditions through party elections and the party will be made an institution not the ownership of persons,” he added.

He said the PML-Q would take bold steps to strengthen the economy and reduce unemployment from the society after coming into power.

Regarding the chances of reunification of the PML-Q and PML- N, after the election of Mian Shahbaz Sharif as president of the party, he said, “there is no chance.”

To a questions about alliance with other political parties, he said, “I had a meeting with Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani, the chief of Mutahiddah Majlis-i-Amal, and discussed with him the issue of cooperation in the forthcoming elections on seat-to-seat basis”.

He said his party suggested that Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, who along with 29 family members, went into exile at their own will, should return to the country and take part in the elections.—APP
