KARACHI, Aug. 7: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Wednesday granted stay against a contractor of City District Government Karachi (CDGK) restraining him from collecting fee on skin of slaughtered animals.

The bench comprising Justice Zahid Kurban Alavi and Justice Ghulam Rabbani was hearing a constitutional petition filed by Iqbal Qureshi, honorary General Secretary of Meat Merchants Association who challenged the collection of a fee of rupee 2 and 1 against skin of a cow/buffalo and goat/sheep by a contractor of CDGK.

He maintained that the association members are already paying slaughter fee and under the circumstances no more fee of whatsoever nature can be imposed/collected.

He prayed to the court to declare the new fee as illegal.

The bench after initial hearing issued stay orders while putting off the petition for a date to be fixed by the office of the court.
