KARACHI, Aug 7: Sindh governor Mohammedmian Soomro has said that the government is implementing a coordinated programme for providing basic necessities in cities and villages.

Addressing a meeting held at the governor’s house to review the projects for provision of basic necessities, the governor said that on the directive of President Pervez Musharraf special attention was being paid on water and electricity projects.

He referred to the K-III Water Project for the supply of 100 MGD water to Karachi and said work was being done on another scheme to check water leakage.

He pointed out that the federal government had released funds to Wapda for the supply of electricity to 890 villages under the Village Electrification Programme. The supply of electricity to these villages is estimated to cost Rs394.732 million.

The governor said that public cooperation and community participation in every sector was being ensured and public opinion had been kept in view.—APP
