KARACHI: Human rights awareness course


KARACHI, Aug 7: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has organized a six-day in-service training course on “Human Rights Mass Awareness Through Education” for university/college teachers of English and Pakistan Studies in collaboration with the Kingdom of Norway and the Swiss federation, which will continue till August 10.

The chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, Dr Mohammad Sharif Memon, said at the opening session that it was the duty of the teachers to educate the people about human rights.

Dholan Khiyani, UGC regional director, said the main objective of the training course was to develop sensitivity towards human rights among academia and devise a multi- dimensional approach to address the issue through education in the society.

About 40 university and college teachers from Sindh and Balochistan are attending the course.—APP
