ISLAMABAD, Aug 1: Blazing knocks of 90 runs apiece by Wasim Abbas and Shahid Mahmood helped Youngsters go free-wheeling to a 104 run victory over Al-Fateh in the quarterfinals of the Islamabad Cricket Association Knockout Championship Thursday.
Fine batting by the two players saw Youngsters put on 273 for nine off their allotted 50 overs. Mujhaid Iqbal, the top wicket- taker with three for 40, and others in the attack could not check the rampaging rival batsmen.
Al-Fateh’s reply revolved around a half century by Waqas Ahmed but his runs were not enough as his side were bowled out for 170. Shahid Mahmood snapped up three for 52 with Irfan Bhatti and Umer Asif claiming two wickets each.
Also making the last four were PTV who walloped All Youngstars by nine wickets, Diamond scoring a seven-wicket victory against Eleven Star and Rawal Town outplaying CDA by four wickets.
