QUETTA, July 30: The central leader of Pakistan Muslim League (QA), Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, has said the smaller provinces must be given their due rights in order to eliminate the sense of deprivation in these provinces.

Talking to newsmen on the eve of provincial election of the party here on Tuesday, the PML leader said he always supported the idea that some of the party’s central offices should be given to the leaders from smaller provinces.

He said due to ongoing anti-terror war in Afghanistan Pakistan had assumed a key position in the region, which also made Balochistan an important province. He said if not tackled properly this situation could create a lot of problems. However, he said the PML-QA would utilize all its abilities for improving the situation in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, former provincial chief minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali said it was for the first time in the last 40 years that the present government had amended the Political Parties Act, which was welcomed by the people of the country.

He said amendments to the Political Party Act would help bring democracy to the political parties.

He thanked the provincial general council of the PML-QA for nominating him for the office of secretary-general of the party.

Meanwhile, Jam Mohammad Yousaf was elected president of PML-QA Balochistan, while Malik Sarwar Khan Kakar was elected provincial general secretary.
