KARACHI: Delay in results irks students

KARACHI, July 30: Students at the Sindh Medical College and the Dow Medical College have expressed concern over the inordinate delay in announcement of results of various annual examinations.

They said two months’ delay in announcement of results would leave no time to prepare for the next exams.

They feared that delay in the results notification of exams completed in March 2002 would cause postponement of the next academic session, besides cutting short the preparation time for supplementary examinations as the University of Karachi has already delayed announcement of first, second, third and fourth years’ results almost for two months.

“Normally the university announces the results of annual exams by the end of May and after 40 days it holds supplementary exams,” a student of 3rd year said, adding that unprecedented delay was irking the students.

He pointed out that according to their teachers, the university has delayed the results due to an ongoing inquiry against illegal admissions to first and second years MBBS classes.

However, he said that according to media reports the committee, set up for investigating the issue, had already submitted its report a month back to the university vice- chancellor.—PPI
