KARACHI, July 26: Five ships carrying general cargo and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was relatively slow where three ships, Kota Teraju and Sima Kija to unload and load containers, Johar to offload crude oil were berthed after the departure of six.

The ships, which departed included Kota Wajba, Kota Teraju, Al-Mariyah, Swat, Sovgavan and Monte Luna, while Good Hope, Sima Kija and Johar are due to sail out on Saturday.

Berth occupancy at the oil piers was 67 per cent thanks to steady calling by tankers, while it fell to 22 per cent on the dry wharves.

Owing to larger handling of liquid tonnage, the total rose to 84,085 tons comprising 13,907 tons of export cargo and 70,178 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Liang Shan, with general cargo, Wan Hai-302, Hyundai Bridge, Emirate Star-11 and Iwato, with containers.

KARACHI, July 26: Two ships carrying edible oil and chemicals arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Friday.

Four vessels, Centaurus, MSC Corinna, City of Eden Burg and China Hope, were busy loading/discharging wheat, containers and coal respectively.

A cargo volume of 6,158 tons comprising 4,551 tons of import cargo and 1,607 tons of export cargo, in addition to 607 containers (Teus), was handled.
