KARACHI: PPP sets up body for intra-party election
KARACHI, July 24: The Pakistan Peoples Party on Wednesday constituted a central election commission (CEC) to hold intra-party elections at the federal, provincial and district levels on July 28.
The central election commission shall consist of Aftab Shahban Mirani, Khalid Khan Khara and Naseerullah Babar. N.D.Khan (Sindh), Sakhi Sultan (Balochistan), Ameer Khan (NWFP) and Afzal Sindhu (Punjab) have been nominated as the provincial election authorities.
According to the election schedule, work for the finalization of the voters’ list, appeal against the voters’ list and decision on appeal by the district election officer would be completed by July 25. The filing of nomination papers for the district, provincial and central office-bearers and the district committee would be held on July 26. Withdrawal of nomination papers would be completed till 12 noon on July 27.
On July 28 and 29, the voting and election at the district headquarters and the compilation and declaration of results would be held. The list of district election officers is as follows:
Punjab: Islamabad/ Rawalpindi, Raja Shahid Zafar; Rawalpindi city/ dist, Qazi Sultan Mehmood; Attock, Sardar Saleem; Chakwal, Malik Hakeem Khan; Jhelum, Haji Nawaz Khokhar; Sargodha division, Khushab Nisar Razi; Mianwali, Sher Afghan Khan Niazi; Bhakkar District, Fakhruddin; Faisalabad division, Jhang Hani Khan; T .T. Singh, Nayyar Dar; Gujranwala division, Khalid Hamyoon; Hafizabad district, Zafar Choudhry; Gujrat, Ahmed Mukhtiar; Mandi Bahauddin, Mehr Abdul Rasheed; Sialkot, Yousuf Khilji; Narowal, Anwarull Haq Punnu;
The commission has directed the district election officers for Sindh to conduct the elections. The list of the election officers Sindh PPP is as follows:
Sukkur division: Sukkur, Khursheed Ahmed Shah; Ghotki, Imdad Ali Awan; Naushero Feroz, Ahmed Ali Jalbani; Nawabshah, Hussain Shah Rashdi; Khairpur, Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
