ISLAMABAD, July 18: President Gen Pervez Musharraf will inaugurate a two-day international workshop on Friday to discuss and finalize a National Anti-Corruption Strategy, prepared by National Accountability Bureau to lay down a mechanism for eradicating corruption from the society.

The two-day workshop, which will be attended by over 300 eminent personalities from the private sector and civil society organizations, will also be addressed by international experts on corruption and money laundering like Mr Jeremy Carver from the UK, Mr Jeremy Pope from New Zealand and Dr Kamal Hossain from Bangladesh.

“Corruption of late has become a disease in Pakistan’s civil society, infecting every nook and cranny of our private and public life,” a NAB spokesman told a news briefing on Thursday.

The strategy paper, prepared by NAB over the past two years, which covers 16 different issues including money laundering, will be put up for approval before the federal cabinet on Aug 15, the spokesman said.

The strategy is designed to strengthen public sector management.
