Rs769m Lower Dir budget presented

TIMERGARA, July 13: Lower Dir District Nazim, Dr Mohammad Yaqoob presented a budget for 2002-2003 without any new tax with a total outlay of Rs 769.771 million at the district council meeting on Saturday.

District Naib Nazim, Haji Mohammad Rasool Khan presided over the meeting.

The budget provides Rs 631.143 million for development expenditure and Rs 138.62 million for development expenditure. The non-development allocation makes approximately 81.99 million of the total budget.

According to the budget proposals, an amount of Rs 585.173 million and Rs 41.110 million would be received from the provincial government to meet the pay and allowances of the government employees.

Similarly, the amount to be received from octroi and Zila tax grant is expected to be Rs 2.970 million and Rs 18.660, respectively. The local funds have been estimated at Rs 18.960 million.

Moreover, the previous year’s funds under the Annual Development Programme, Khushhal Pakistan Programme, Social Action Programme, Education Sector Reforms and President’s Programme amounting to Rs 24.248 million, Rs 47.361 million, Rs 3.337 million, Rs 8.345 million and Rs 11.312 million, respectively, have also been restored to complete the on-going development schemes being carried out in the district. An amount of Rs 18.283 million has been allocated for new schemes in the budget proposals.

The expenditures of District Council Nazim and Naib Nazim for the new financial year have estimated at Rs 4.486 million.

The meeting was informed that the District Council would receive another Rs 30.356 million approved by the NWFP governor, which would be distributed among the District Council, Tehsil Council and Union Councils at the rate of 60, 30 and 10 per cent, respectively.
