ISLAMABAD: Rs35m okayed for uplift of 8 kutcha abadis

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 13: The Capital Development Authority has approved different projects amounting to Rs35 million for the shifting and development of eight kutcha abadis in the Capital, an official of the CDA said here on Saturday.

He said the residents of Haq Bahu and Benazir colonies, the two kutcha abadis which had been removed recently, will be settled in Alipur Farash under a Modern Urban Shelter Programme (MUSP).

“Before the removal of these two kutcha abadis, their residents were offered plots at Alipur Farash,” he said.

There are 10 regularised kutcha abadis in Islamabad and the CDA has planned to shift four of them to Alipur Farash, he said adding “the remaining six will be upgraded at their earlier places.”

Those which will be shifted to Alipur Farash are: Muslim Colony, Dhok Najju, Haq Bahu Colony and Esa Nagri.

The official said forms had been distributed among the residents of all the four kutcha abadis so that they could immediately get plots on easy instalments.

The affected people of Haq Bahu and Benazir colonies said about 900 houses had been demolished there, but the CDA had offered only 200 plots at Alipur Farash.

However, the Capital Development Authority approved PC-I of Rs25.79 million for the shifting of three kutcha abadis at phase-III of Alipur Farash under the MUSP.
