Downsizing fear in PCB employees
KARACHI, July 12: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given its employees four months contract letters instead of eleven, creating fears among them that it might be first step towards downsizing.
Informed sources said the contractual employees are worried on what criteria will be adopted to monitor their performance.
PCB’s new director Chishti Mujahid will take charge Monday July 15 in place of Brigadier Munawar Rana.
There are about 150 employees working with PCB in various cities, most of them on contract basis. They are assigned to popularise cricket across the country by establishing cricket academies in various cities, supervise construction of grounds in remote areas, besides some other development schemes launched by the PCB.
According to the sources, the continuos cancelling of tours by foreign teams to Pakistan, are matter of concern causing huge financial losses to PCB.
They said only if the PCB was able to overcome its financial crisis in near future, there is possibility that the board may not resort to downsizing of its employees.—PPI
