ISLAMABAD, July 12: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has decided to provide internet and uniform codes services on mobile phones free of charge.
This decision will take place with immediate effect, the PTCL spokesman said here on Friday.
He said this service was already being provided free of cost to normal digital phones. The new step will enable all mobile customers and normal digital telephone customers to dial public services, he added.
The spokesman said the services to be provided free of charge were 115, police emergency 15, fire brigade 16 and also chargeable services Universal Internet Access, specially allocated to licensed ISPs to promote IT in the country, railway inquiry 117, Wapda complaints 118, inquiry 17, telephone complaints 18, flight enquiry 114, Sui Gas complaints 119.
It may be mentioned here that the PTCL is providing different value added service and specially IT-related services in the country like Universal Access Number, Toll Free Services, Caller Line Identification CLI, Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) both BRA and PRA, Digital Cross Connect (DXX) for its customers.—APP
Our Reporter adds: The PTCL is spending over Rs350 million on health care every year.
The PTCL is one of the organizations of the country which has been providing modern health care facilities. A total of 39 PTCL dispensaries/health centres working efficiently in the country are not only providing health care facilities to the 50,000 employees, but to their families as well.
Iftikhar Ahmad Raja, member administration PTCL, stated this on Friday while talking to a group of reporters.
He said the PTCL had taken Al-Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad on its panel and now employees of all grades including grades 1 to 15 would get medical treatment on the company’s account at this hospital.
He said patients were referred to different panel hospitals by respective medical officers depending on the medical need of the employee irrespective of his or her grade.
