Bid to travel on forged documents foiled

ISLAMABAD, July 12: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials on Friday foiled an attempt to travel to Europe on forged documents and arrested two persons.

An FIA official said Ghulam Sabir and Mohammad Zulfiqar were arrested when their passports (KA-482766 and KA-482756) were checked with Border Securi-ty System. The passports were among 1,400 stolen from the Passport Office in Sukkur on May 14.

Sources in the FIA immigration cell said that following disclosures by the arrested persons, strict checking had been initiated at the airport. The sources claimed that the passports bore signatures of an official of Gujrat Regional Passport Office.

The two accused had valid Danish visas. They told the FIA staff that the passports were purchased from an agent, Nadeem, on payment of Rs650,000.

PPI ADDS: Police on Friday arrested two persons and seized 30-bore pistols from their possession.

The police arrested Chan Waiz in Tarnol and seized a 30-bore pistol from his possession.

The police also arrested Sikander Khan on charges of possessing an unlicensed 30 bore pistol.

GAMBLERS HELD: Police arrested four persons on charges of gambling and seized the stake money from their possession.

The Sihala police arrested Mohammad Siddique, Zafar Iqbal, Arshad Mehmood and Mulazim Hussain in a raid on a house.
