LAHORE, July 12: City district Nazim Amer Mahmood on Friday announced installation of three new tubewells in the Walled City at a cost of Rs10 million.
The Nazim made the announcement while speaking to the Nazimeen, councillors and citizens from six Walled City union councils inside Taxalai Gate.
He said the three tubewells would be in addition to 34 scheduled to be installed in the provincial meteropolis by the Water and Sanitation Agency of the Lahore Development Authority. Sites for the new tubewells would be identified by a committee comprising union council Nazimeen Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam, Shahid Bilal and Mian Shahzad.
He said every councillor would be allowed to identify development schemes costing Rs150,000 for inclusion in the forthcoming budget as promised during President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s referendum campaign. The city government would provide Rs100,000 for the schemes and the Towns the remaining Rs50,000.
The meeting also offererd fateha for the slain Ravi Town Nazim Aftab Asghar Dar and the district Nazim also discussed the problems faced by the women councillors.
Naib Nazim Farooq Amjad Mir also attended the meeting.
