KARACHI: Ministers told to keep in touch with people


KARACHI, July 7: Sindh Governor, Mohammedmian Soomro, has exhorted the ministers and others responsible in the government to ensure their direct contact with the people in a continuous process.

He pointed out that every needy and disturbed person cannot reach them and, therefore, the ministers and heads of provincial departments will have to ensure their contact with the people by adopting various means.

He was talking to the newly-inducted Sindh ministers who called on him at the Governor’s House.

Sindh Chief Secretary, K.B. Rind; Principal Secretary, Akhtar Zamin and other officials were also present.

Outlining the government priorities, the governor told the ministers that the mission of the present government is to improve the quality of life of the common man.

In this regard, he referred to emphasis being laid on good governance, better financial management, health and education and implementation of coordinated programmes in other social sectors.

Mr Soomro said that collective endeavours will have to be made for continuity of the reforms programme in the future.

He described as imperative the inclusion of community and people in all sectors and at all levels for the attainment of desired objectives.

The governor made it clear to the ministers that now when they have been inducted as ministers, they will not restrict their relationship and have association with a particular area or the areas of their influence.

The ministers and concerned officials will have to utilize the best of their capabilities for the overall interests of the province and its people, he stated.

The governor called upon them to work without any discrimination for upholding the cause of justice, law and for the betterment of the country, province and the people.

He pointed out that the government is paying equal attention to all sectors.—APP
