18 killed in Egypt


CAIRO, July 6: Eighteen people were killed when a truck and a minibus crashed at high speeds in southern Egypt, local media reported on Saturday.

The collision occurred near the city of Assiut, 320 kms south of the capital Cairo, on Friday.

The official MENA news agency said both vehicles had been travelling at excessive speeds.

Egypt has one of the worst road accident rates in the world.—Reuters
