200 villages without power

KHAIRPUR, July 5: The electricity to more than 200 villages of Gambat Taluka was cut off since the dust storm on June 26.

Life has been paralyzed in the entire area where people have been demanding since long that the power supply be restored.

TANDO MASTI: In Tando Masti, the electricity has remained suspended since the last 20 hours as a result of which the people have been facing various hardships.

DEMO AGAINST HESCO: The citizens staged a demonstration against the Hesco officials as the electricity remained suspended for more than four hours during the last 24 hours in most areas of Khairpur town.

Matters were made all the worse because of the extreme heat. Patients at hospitals were the ones who suffered the most.

The businesses of traders too were affected.

They said that the load-shedding was unscheduled and was due to the inefficiency of Hesco officials.

HYDRO LABOUR UNION: An urgent meeting of the Hydro Labour Union was held here on Friday. The participants of the meeting expressed concern over the forcible retrenchment of Hesco employees by the superintendent, Engineer Circle, Hesco, Sukkur.

The participants wore black arm-bands. They vowed to continue their peaceful protest against the forcible retirement of employees.
