Omer crowned Sindh champion

KARACHI, July 2: Fide Master (FM) Omer Khan clinched the Sindh Chess Championship on a tie-breaker after he was tied with Aziz Farooqi and Raees Ansari at the conclusion of ninth and final round at Karachi Chess Academy Monday night.

No one could emerged a clear winner because the game on the top table between Omer and Khalid Zafar of Hyderabad ended in draw.

Similarly on second and third board NM Aziz Farooqi outplayed NM Haseeb Ahmed and Raees Ansari defeated Hafeez-ur-Rehman.

Thus on the points table top place is being shared by Omer, Aziz and Raees Asad each have 7.5-points.

The complication is simplified by adopting tie break formula and Omer finished on the top to take the title. Aziz finished runner-up and Raees were scured third placed.
