SHEIKHUPURA, July 2: The government is playing its due role for the promotion of Islamic culture and values in Punjab.

This was stated by provincial minister Maulana Ghulam Sarwar Qadri at the inaugural ceremony of a local institution in Rahmanpura.

Renowned personalities Syed Akbar Shah, Syed Moazzam Ali Rizvi, District information officer Sarfrazullah Khan and Maulana Yousaf Sialvi were present on the occasion.

He said Punjab Governor Lt-Gen Khalid Maqbool (retired) had been paying special attention to the promotion of religious institutions and to introduce modern subjects in these academies.

“It was imperative for the survival and progress of Muslim Ummah that students in these religious institutions should be equipped with latest thoughts,” he said.

The government was also committed to assist unemployed youth by offering them Rs50,000 each so that they could start their businesses.

The religious institutions should get their academies registered so that funds and other facilities could be provided to them, he said.
