Lahore’s Tahir clinches second leg

LAHORE, June 28: Tahir Nasim of Lahore Gymkhana with three day aggregate of four under-par 216, was leading after the second leg of the Pakistan Golf Federation programme to select 70 top professional golfers for the domestic season 2002-2003 ended at the Lahore Gymkhana Friday.

The first leg of the competition was held in Karachi and the last part is scheduled to be held at Rawalpindi next week. About 110 professional golfers from all over the country are participating in the competition.

The Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) has decided to finalise the list of top 70 professional before the start of the domestic season. Only the top 70 professional will be eligible to take part in the domestic season. The decision was taken to avoid holding of qualifying round for the professional before the start of every tournament.

Tahir’s break-up of three day competition was 72+71+69.

Two strokes behind Manzoor Ahmed also of Gymkhana was second. Waheed Baloch from Karachi and Mohammad Siddique from Faisalabad with three-day aggregate of 215 were bracketed at the third spot.

Following are the top 10 golfers who occupied the top five positions:
