SAHIWAL, June 25: Three people, including a girl, her lover and lover’s father, were beheaded in Chak 103/9-L on Monday night.

Salima, the daughter of farmer Ghulam Muhammad, fell in love with her servant Yasin and eloped with him. Shabbir Ahmad, the father of Yasin, afraid of the wrath of his master, went into hiding. He searched for both of them and was to produce them before the farmer on Tuesday (today).

They were sitting in a cottage near graveyard when nephews of Ghulam Muhammad came there and beheaded them with hoes and fled from the scene.

Dera Rahim police have registered a case against Bashir Ahmad, and four nephews of the farmer.

POWER DISCONNECTED: The Mepco Sahiwal division has disconnected supply to 29 government offices for default of payment of bills worth Rs1,065,925.

The offices include; Sahiwal Tehsil Council, labour assistant director, Comprehensive High School, Imamia College, Water Supply Jahaz Ground and the disposal station, Chak 133/9-L UC Nazim’s office, Sahiwal city streetlights, Public Health Engineering, water supply and disposal schemes of Chak 134/9-L, 130/9-L and 117/9-L.

The Mepco authorities have served notices on 26 other defaulters to clear their dues by June 29 failing which electricity connections would be severed.
