KARACHI: Report of plague denied

KARACHI, June 25: The Sindh health department on Tuesday contradicted certain press reports that some people had died and scores of others had been admitted to hospitals due to an outbreak of plague in the province.

A spokesman for the department said that the disease could only be diagnosed at high standard laboratory, therefore the cases of diarrhoea should not be considered as plague. He clarified that there were different kinds of diarrhoea which occur due to food-poisoning or use of various medicines.

“Such diseases are common in this continent and there is no plague-like situation in Sindh,” the spokesman said.—PPI
