Yemen detains 31 Pakistani fishermen

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 24: Two Pakistani fishing vessels and their 31 crew members have been detained by the Yemen authorities, sources in the Fishermen Cooperative Society said.

According to the FCS manager of coordination, Malik Bashir Ahmed, efforts are being made to get the fishermen and their boats released.

He said the boats — Al-Daulat (No 11411-B) and Al-Akbar (No 13136-B) — carrying 18 and 13 fishermen, respectively, had left the Karachi Fish Harbour on April 3 and 10. But they did not return on due date.

Later, it was confirmed that the boats were seized by the coastal authorities in Yemen, and they were being properly looked after.
