GUJRANWALA, June 19: Around 1,320 teachers would be posted in Gujranwala district after lifting of ban on recruitments.

The executive district officer (education) issued on Wednesday a notification mentioning the number of vacant posts in schools.

According to the notification, posts of 1,028 elementary, 175 middle and 117 secondary school teachers would be filled in.

A selection committee would pick teachers. Appointments would be made on a five-year contract and the teachers would not be transferred to other places during the contract period.

INTERIM BAIL: The anti-terrorism court No 2 accepted the interim bail of a Nazim and councillors in a violence case till June 25.

Model Town union council Nazim Shaikh Salim and others took out protest procession against kidnapping of a prize bond dealer and blocked the road by setting old tyres on fire a few days ago. Police registered cases against about 150 people.

The court ordered the accused to deposit surety bond worth Rs50,000 each.

REPORT SOUGHT: The district Nazim asked an executive district officer (EDO) to file a report within three days on a demonstration held by the residents of Khiali and its adjacent localities against paper mills.

The residents took out protest procession about 10 days ago and dragged a factory owner, Muhammad Rafiq, on road and damaged the factory equipment.

The factories are located in residential areas and cause environment pollution.

Meanwhile, factory owners got registered a case against 141 people, including a Nazim and a Naib Nazim of a union council besides women. Sabzi Mandi police have arrested about two dozen people.

SUICIDES: Two youth allegedly committed suicide by taking poison on failing to find a job in Naushera Virkan and Kamoki on Wednesday.

Shakil of Naushera Virkan and Nadeem of Kamoki were jobless since long. They took poison and died before getting any medical assistance.

RESOLUTION: eb The tax bar association adopted a unanimous resolution against an additional income tax commissioner for his insulting attitude towards lawyers.

At a meeting held here on Wednesday presided over by tax bar president Afzaal Ahmad Hashmi, the participants accused Sarfraz Ahmad that he always humiliated lawyers whenever they appeared before him for their cases.
