NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, June 13: Three youths confessed at a press conference on Thursday that they had killed a boy, Tariq Samoo (16), on June 8.

The press conference was arranged by the police at the Moro police station where DSP, Syed Arshad Ali Shah, SHO, Imtiaz Dombki, and inspector, Mohsin Raza, produced the three accused — Shahid Samoo (20), A. Dino alias Papoo Bhatti (17), and Jawaid Bhatti (18) — before the newsmen.

Shahid Samoo told newsmen that Tariq was a close relative of his, while Papoo and Jawaid were his friends. On the day of the incident, he and his two friends went to visit Tariq, who had a tailoring shop. There they drank four bottles of wine. Then all four left the shop.

Shahid said that Papoo and Jawaid wanted to sodomise Tariq. However, Tariq had a dagger which he had taken from Jawaid while they were drinking.

Jawed said that Tariq tried to resist with the help of the dagger but it was snatched from him. He said that as they became nervous, they stabbed Tariq and fled.

Shahid said that after an hour they returned to the site and found that Tariq was still alive, so he cut his throat. They then left the place for good.

Papoo confessed that they had done wrong.

SHO Domki told newsmen that the accused would be produced before the court concerned by the investigating team on Friday.

When this correspondent tried to contact the inspector, Investigation, he was not available.
